Outdoor Spring Wedding in League City

Spring has sprung at Butler’s Courtyard and we are just over the moon with how beautiful our landscaping looks. We can’t just thank the gorgeous weather that League City has had. Major gratitude goes out to Lee’s Landscaping for working so hard on our gardens year round! Our Azalea bushes have bloomed, the Snapdragons are standing tall and the petite roses have finally opened up to say, “Hello!”.

All of the above provide the perfect setting for an outdoor, garden wedding in Houston! And that is exactly what Katy and Greg did. Their wedding kicked off the Spring Season (at least in Texas) and what a wedding it was! Lush Flowers only enhanced our natural beauty with their amazing and luscious floral designs. Lovely pinks, greens and neutrals cascaded down our white gazebo at our garden wedding location. Their amazing and talented owner, designer and creator worked with Katy and made the decision to decorate the 4 front pillars of the wedding gazebo. This is a look we love!

More fresh bouquets were placed at the start of the aisle which welcomed guests as they took their seats. These statement pieces are not only an elegant touch to greet guests but add to their photos by subtly sitting in the background proving that extra pop of color. Did we mention that they smell AMAZING?

Speaking of greeting guests, Lush Flowers provided these chic lantern arrangements along with a floral piece above the  front door of our over 100 year old brick building (that’s right, we are a historic wedding venue in League City!).

And we just have to gush about the pavilion, In fact, we are almost speechless.
The draped florals on our pavilion columns sets the entire mood for this Spring Wedding.

Outdoor Wedding in League City at Butler’s Courtyard Featuring Lush Flowers

The great thing about our Industrial Chic Venue is that we offer indoor and outdoor accomodations. Katy & Greg added a chic lounge setup in our exposed brick Grand Hall. This is also where the cake and buffet are displayed. Her entry way table was elegantly set by Lush Flowers and the aroma was heavenly for guests visiting Bar 1909, Butler’s Courtyard available bar service.

Cheers to 20 Years: The Butler Building

This year marks the 20th anniversary that Butler’s Courtyard has been hosting weddings and events to the larger Galveston and Houston area. We have taken time with our current team and founders to reflect over the past 20 years and, boy, has it been nostalgic. It is so important to us that our couples and followers know our roots and core values. That being said, we decided to put together a 10 episode series about Butler’s Courtyard and its growth.

Episode 1 stars Ronnie Richards, husband of Nancy and one of BC’s original founders. In case you didn’t know, Nancy and Ronnie are the parents to Amber and Shawna (the current BC owners). Ronnie is actively involved in League City’s Historical Society and shared his knowledge of the Butler Building before it became Butler’s Courtyard.

In this episode you will learn the different businesses that occupied the Butler Building before Butler’s Courtyard. Did you know that our building held the first commercial bank of League City? Rumors have it that Bonnie & Clyde may have even paid a visit!

Ronnied discusses the building’s original architecture and the purpose for League City establishing this two story brick building built by George Washington Butler. You will also see photos of the original building in its hay day. We have a large print of this in our office if you have ever stopped by.

The Butler Building is not the only older building at our venue. Rose Cottage, our bridal house, also has some history to it along with the Barn (which holds our restrooms). You will learn how these buildings came about, their original purpose, and what we use them for now.

Episode 1: The Butler Building is a great way for you to learn about our building’s rich history. It is an honor for us to assist with the preservation of this Historic structure in our city and continue to bring life inside its walls. Stay tuned for Episode 2: The Birth of Butler’s Courtyard. Cheers to 20 Years!

5 Must-Know Tips for Looking Your Best in Your Wedding Pictures

Bride and groom smiling with wedding cake

In almost slow motion, you watched the love of your life get down on one knee, pull out the ring from their pocket, and ask you the four magical words, “Will you marry me?” Flash-forward a few months, and you’ve created your Pinterest board, made your guest list, and hired your photographer (just a few of the many wedding planning tasks on your to-do list). Unfortunately, amid all the hustle and bustle, couples often forget about preparing themselves. After all, all eyes will be on you, so you definitely want to look and feel your best. Unsure where to start? Here are a few tips to help!

#1. Eat a Balanced Diet

From cake tastings to food pairings, there are a lot of meal-related wedding tasks that your tastebuds will love. However, it is important to throw some vitamin-rich foods into your diet as well. Not only will this give your body the nutrients it needs to function properly, but it will also minimize bloating, promote clear skin, and prevent illness. (Adding 30 minutes of movement to your daily regimen will help as well!).

#2. Practice Your Hair and Makeup

Whether you are doing your hair and makeup yourself or hiring a professional, a trial run (or two!) is crucial. After all, your inspiration picture or the idea in your head can look very different depending on your face shape and coloring, and the last thing you want is to find that out the morning of.

#3. Focus on Your Smile

From one minor chip to severe discoloration, dental flaws can make you feel extremely self-conscious on your wedding day, even with the perfect dress and flawless makeup. That’s why I always recommend visiting your dentist in Texas City for a smile enhancement beforehand. Getting started early will ensure you have plenty of time to straighten, brighten, and otherwise perfect your smile.

#4. Follow a Skincare Regimen

Getting a facial or trying a new face mask the week of may sound like a good idea, but experimenting with your skincare regimen so close to your wedding is risky. Instead, try locking a routine in place well in advance. That way, you have time to find out what works and what doesn’t. By the time your big day is here, both you and your skin will be ready for the spotlight.

#5. Get Plenty of Sleep

It’s no secret that planning a wedding can be incredibly stressful. However, if you don’t focus on a healthy sleep schedule, all the long days and sleepless nights will show on your face. To prevent that from happening, try using calming essential oils, not looking at your phone for an hour before bed, and listening to relaxing music.

We hope these tips help you look and feel amazing on your wedding day! If you have yet to pick a venue and would like to schedule a tour, don’t hesitate to get in touch with us today! If you would like to start by perfecting your smile, get in touch with your cosmetic dentist in Texas City.

Wedding Questions You Don’t Expect

Planning a wedding is something you can’t truly understand until you have done it yourself. I have been in and out of the full-service wedding industry for almost a decade now and thought I was pretty in the know. I have amazing friends who have decades more of experience than me who have taught me, supported me and guided me through this industry.

Your Kids on Wedding Day

Your wedding day is one of the most memorable days of your life. You want everything to be perfect and there are so many ways you can personalize your wedding day to you and your future spouse. This day represents your future, your commitment and your family. In a lot of to-be marriages children are already existent. So what can you do to include your kids in your wedding day?

Favorite Photos at Butler’s Courtyard

One of the reasons couples choose our venue is for the AMAZING photo opportunities! I love our venue because we are not the same 4 walls that you tend to see. The background of our photos are so unique! Rustic Wedding, Chic Wedding, Garden Wedding, Elegant Wedding, you name it! Here are my 4 favorite shots that I encourage each couple to take.

Hello, 2021 Couples!

We know you are out there and already wedding planning – congratulations! This is such an exciting time! I have given so many tours and something I hear pretty frequently from our 2021 couples is, “we have so much time; we are really just getting an idea of what we’d like.” As a wedding coordinator and venue manager, this is so tough to hear because the last thing we want is for you to find your dream venue, regardless of where that is, not book it because there are several months before your wedding and find out months later that your special date is gone!. What I want you to know is it is time to book your date now!
